The Interview
Personality: Anyone who knows Lance would more than likely tell you he’s the type of guy you want around. He’ generally a pretty easy going person; or at least he tries to be. He’s got a natural fluid personality about him, seeming to be able to fit in almost anywhere he’s put. While he isn’t exactly one to change who he is to fit in somewhere, the fact that he was raised to be accepting and open to almost anything makes him a rather effective social chameleon. People have a tendency to feel comfortable around him. No matter who you are, Lance is extremely supportive and welcoming, at least initially. You get on this guys bad side and you see a completely different person, and the golden boy you once thought you knew suddenly anything but.
Lance has a temper; it’s a simple as that. While it may be ever slow to rise, once he gets there, he tends to be almost impossible to calm down. He’s extremely protective of the people he cares about, even people he barely even knows. If there’s one thing that pushes this guy’s buttons above anything else, it’s watching someone purposely harm an innocent. Retaliation comes almost second nature to him. If he has the power to stop someone causing another person suffering, he will no doubt do what it takes to do so. You could call it a good heart or simply a hero complex, but it’s honestly who he is. It goes along with his affinity for helping make the world a better place.
If Lance is anything, he’s charismatic. He’s got a charm that most people can’t seem to resist. The thing about him is that he’s sincere about it as well. He cares about people as a whole, and for that reason when you do get a sweet smile or friendly hug, he means it. Its not because he wants in your pants or to get attention, usually. He is, after all, a 23 year old who happens to know he’s not ugly. He’s not stupid, and he knows that if a charming smile and a nice word is what will get him what he wants, sometimes it’s necessary. Because of this reason, Lance isn’t a fake person. If he dislikes you or what you stand for, it takes a hell of a lot of effort for him to “play” nice. Chances are if he doesn’t like or trust you, you’ll know it.
Though anyone you ask would tell you that Lance Fox is indeed extremely intelligent, one of his problems is his lack of patience. When he’s got his mind on something, like a freight train he has to see it through as soon as possible. He hates waiting for anything, because of this he’s been known to be a bit brash. It’s what made him successful in as childhood, and its how he got to where he was today… or at least he thinks that’s the case. He doesn’t like to wait around and let things happen to him, he needs to be doing something, he has to go after it, or else he’s the type of person he fears it will never come.
When it comes to his love life, Lance is admittedly no angel. He isn’t pure, he isn’t chaste, and he most definitely isn’t a prude. He’s extremely flirtatious, charming, playful, and above all else exciting. The notion of love excites Lance, and currently that’s one of his top priorities. He flirts and goes on dates to find that, to make that connection with the perfect guy. Of course, on the road to that, he’s been known to have his occasional fling and heart brake, but then again who hasn’t? He’s the type who’s looking for love and commitment like its his job, but is having a pretty fun, exciting time on the search.
I can be described as: Charming
I will never: Work with my father again
History: First of all, it should be pointed out that Lance Fox wasn’t brought up magical, at least not in the beginning. He was adopted almost right from birth by young, vibrant, well to-do newly-weds in California, LA to be exact. Growing up, his life had been more or less normal. His adoptive parents, who were unfortunately unable to bare children of their own, thought him as their little gift from heaven, and treated him as such. After all, with the funds they had to work with, why wouldn’t they want to use it to make their only son’s life the best it could be? So, for a great many years, that’s exactly what they did. They gave Lance practically any and everything he could ever need, and of course the boy took it without complaint. It’s not to say that the constant doting didn’t come with it’s prices. To be apart of the Fox family meant he had certain responsibilities. It meant knowing how to operate in social settings. Image, after all, was everything to his parents, and they made sure to instill a certain degree of charisma and social awareness at a very young age, all things that he absorbed and took with him without hesitation. He was a natural with people, and it showed. Looking back, it really was no surprise he ended up with that particular family.
When most boys hit puberty, their voices start changing, they get taller, hair starts growing in funny places, and they start to smell. Lance, on the other hand, went through a different series of changes. While yes, he had the same physical advancements as his peers, but there was something else. It was around this time, Lance’s twelfth year, that he started exhibiting signs of being magical. He started developing strange powers, powers he couldn’t really understand. Obviously, his first instinct had been to hide his abilities from everyone he knew, and of course it was a smart one. No matter how much he liked his powers, he was scared of the reaction he’d get from the people around him, his family included. So, naturally he kept it hidden, and decided to attempt to develop his powers and explore his abilities himself.
Not shortly after he managed to get a handle on them, he was visited after school one day by a strange man in black robes by the name of Maverick. It was Maverick who told him who he actually was, where he came from, and more importantly, why he could do the things he could do. It was also then that the strange man explained to him that he didn’t belong in the mortal world anymore, not in the current lifestyle he’d grown accustomed. Naturally Lance refused to accept that. He happened to like his life the way things were. Unfortunately, his opinion hadn’t really meant much, and he was taken down to the Underworld by the strange man dressed black, the man he would soon discover was his biological father.
For the rest of his teen years, he was brought up in the underworld, raised like his father had felt he should have been raised in order to obtain his true potential. It was then that he learned that was put up for adoption for the simple fact that they wanted him to be exposed to life and the mentality of a human, to understand them and live like them. After all, if they wanted Lance to successfully meld into the human world, he’d have to be one of them first, and that he was. It was the next phase that was important. Now that he knew what it was and what it meant to be human, it was his father’s goal to beat that innate humanity that had grown in him, right back out. Through various forms of emotional and magical torture, rigorous training, and forms of brainwashing that only a parent could truly accomplish, they worked to turn the boy into a true killing machine from which the underworld could truly benefit.
Whether or not his father‘s plan had worked or not had been a mystery to everyone, so it was imperative that the boy‘s true evil nature be tested. It wasn’t until one night, on his 20th birthday, when they put him out on a special assignment, did things truly change for Lance. He was sent out to target a bounty in the mortal world. For the past years, Lance had made countless kills and collected various bounties, however they had all been magical, killings only made to improve his status in the Underworld. In the ounderworld, he had managed to kill various demons and warlocks to help his father gain respect within various factions. He’d been directed to eliminate an extremely vocal leader of a political group, and help devise a plan to replace that leader with a shape shifting demon of their own. The boy got as far as the front door to the office. Once it opened, his heart stopped and his body stiffened. His biological mother. His mom had been his target.
Lance had managed to prove himself in many ways to his father, as well as to the figure in power his father had been affiliated with. For years, he had managed to fulfill almost every request, obediently or no, quite effectively. But his mother? Apparently, the boy’s devotion to the woman who had raised him, love him, was far too great. He was unable to do it, and when he failed to deliver, the demon who had been secretly trailing him quickly attempted to. Outraged, Lance retaliated and killed the demon in return.
Needless to say, in light of his failure, his arrival back to his father’s fold was far from jubilant. He was quickly scrutinized for his deeds, not on for sparing his mother, but for vanquishing a perfectly good minion. Lance, being the ever rambunctious one, rebelled against both his father and everything and everyone who condemned. He’d proven himself in far more ways than one, and felt he deserved respect, and a certain degree of mercy. When was refused it, he simply walked out on it all. After spending a few years out by himself, away from his father’s hold, he ended up in the care of the very woman he was sent to kill, his mother. It was her who began teaching him the way of a good witch, that his powers were gifts to be used to help people, not to hurt them.
Mother Species: Witch
Father Species: Dark Gypsy
Powers
Powers [5]:
- Aura Sensing
- Telekinesis
- Solarkinesis (just heard about it from the c-box... hope that's alright)
Weaknesses: For one thing, Lance has a habit of overestimating himself. Being raised for a good majority of the time with his father, who bombarded him with the drive for power and making yourself better, as well as the constant and vigorous training, it's pretty obvious he would, at times, think he is invincible. He also seems to have trouble holding in his emotions, wihch can be a bit of an issue with his powers. He's an extremely emotional person, and when he get's worked up, even now, his powers have a tendency of going a little wonky.
